Why support The Squiz
Since we launched in 2017, we have been committed to being your friend in news. No agenda, just an easy way to understand all the big things coming at you.
Since then, we have come to a view that we also have a role to play in making sure the next generation are equipped to think critically about news and information. So much so that we have dedicated a whole part of our business to developing a media literacy program for primary aged kids to ensure the next generation are critical consumers of news and information.
Every dollar you give us will go towards investing in those two things.
Our commitment to you in return is that we will share those plans and make sure you know and feel that your hard earned money is contributing to a business that not only is your favourite way to get news but ultimately believes that quality news and information is building a better nation for all of us.
Frequently asked questions
How easy is it to cancel?
Very. You can cancel any time, no questions asked. Just use this link to manage your contribution, or email us at hello@thesquiz.com.au and we'll sort it for you.
What does my money go to?
Because of your donation, we are able to plan, commit to building new products and to invest in reaching more Australians. We'll be in touch every quarter to let you know how your contributions are being used.
How does pricing work?
You can contribute monthly, yearly or even give a one-off contribution. For us, yearly is the best as consistent revenue means we can plan with certainty.
What types of contributions can I make?
You can give monthly (we suggest $15, but you can choose your own amount of $10 or more), yearly (minimum $100), or as a one-off of $50 or more.
Why is there a minimum amount I can contribute?
It's maths. Unfortunately for every transaction we have to pay fees, the lower the transaction, the more is eaten up by fees.
Who is eligible to contribute?
Anyone who likes what we do.
Will I receive any benefits?
Our eternal gratitude, for starters. You'll also get a personal thank you from us, a mention in Squiz Today, and an update every quarter on what we're building with your support.
Will I still be able to access The Squiz if I don't contribute?
Yes. The Squiz is free and will stay that way. Contributing is completely optional.
How is The Squiz funded?
We're independently owned, and most of our revenue comes from advertising with commercial partners who want to reach our audience. Supporter contributions now sit alongside that and help us do more.
How do I update my payment or account details?
Use the link in your receipt email to manage your contribution and update your card or details, or sign in here with the email address you contributed with.
How do I change or cancel my ongoing contribution?
Use the same link in your receipt email, or sign in here, to change your amount or cancel. Cancelling stops future payments from your next billing date. If you get stuck, email hello@thesquiz.com.au.
Are contributions refundable?
If something's gone wrong, like you've been charged twice or picked the wrong amount, email us at hello@thesquiz.com.au within 14 days and we'll sort it out.
Can I claim my contribution on tax?
No. The Squiz isn't a deductible gift recipient, so contributions aren't tax deductible.
How do you protect my privacy?
Payments are processed securely by Stripe, so we never see or store your full card details. We only use your details to manage your contribution and keep in touch about it. You can read our full privacy policy here.
Help! Who do I contact?
Email us at hello@thesquiz.com.au and a real human will get back to you.
